Description

Nichols was Bloomingdale Attending Physician 1849-1852, and then left to found and head a national mental asylum in Washington, D.C. He returned to Bloomingdale as Medical Superintendent (the title which superseded "Attending Physician") in 1877 and served until his death in 1889.
