Butler Library

Butler Library

Butler Library, exterior

Butler Library was built in 1934 to replace the original library built on campus in 1897, Low Memorial Library. Low Library had run out of space for the growing collection of books on campus. Butler Library was originally called South Hall until it was renamed in 1946 after the president of Columbia from 1902-1945, Nicholas Murray Butler.[1]
